About Us

Te Manu Toroa (the albatross which glides the ocean), originally known as Western Iwi Health, was established in 1997, to provide a Kaupapa model of health care that linked and integrated services to Māori in the Mai Ngā Kuri-a-Wharei ki Ōtamarākau (i.e., Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Katikati and Te Puke; known as Western Bay of Plenty).

Te Manu Toroa has two GP clinics: Tauranga Moana City Clinic and Te Akau Hauora with an enrolled patient and client population of over 10,000.

Our Vision & Mission

At Te Manu Toroa we provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare for whānau in the Western Bay of Plenty. We take a holistic approach to wellbeing that supports the whole whānau rather than one person.

At the heart of our care is Tūāpapa — our Kaupapa Māori model of care. As every whānau has different needs and wellbeing priorities, our kaimahi work together with you to figure out what matters most to your whānau right now – and in the future too. For us, it’s about talking, listening and supporting, without judgement.

Kia whakarite ai he kaupapa oranga mō ngā iwi o te hauauru.
